Investing in education

If you are planning to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university, you may be eligible for a $2,500 SELCO Scholarship (or $5,000 Richard Metzler Opportunity scholarship) to help with tuition and other educational expenses. The application period is open through March 31, 2023. See eligibility requirements below.

The Richard Metzler opportunity scholarship ($5,000)

In addition to our $2,500 scholarships, the $5,000 Richard Metzler Opportunity Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who, despite adversity or lack of opportunity, has demonstrated excellence in education, leadership, or civic responsibility.

To be considered for The Richard Metzler Opportunity Scholarship, applicants must be residents of Lane County and meet the SELCO Scholarship eligibility requirements. No separate application or materials are required.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be:

  • A SELCO member or the immediate family member of a SELCO member (SELCO employees and their immediate family members are not eligible).
  • A graduating senior from a four-year accredited high school with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Planning to attend an accredited two- or four-year college or university.

Selection Process

The SELCO Scholarship Committee reviews all applications. In the event of closely qualified applicants, the committee may also request interviews. Recipients will be announced and notified by mail.

Award Distribution
